The Rock And Triple H “Often On Different Pages”
Are The Rock and Triple H working together?
While Triple H is arguably more powerful within WWE than he’s ever been, there’s regularly been a Rock-sized caveat added to conversations around his job security. This is because while Triple H might be the one ‘holding the pencil,’ he does so under the guidance of a much larger organisation which has none other than The Rock on the board of directors.
It’s been an open secret for decades that The Rock and Triple H weren’t exactly best of friends during their in-ring careers, and some suspect that ill-feeling has continued. But while talk of an all-out political war is wide of the mark, Rock’s sporadic appearances and desire to shake things up have reportedly led to some frustration backstage.
The Rock And Triple H Don’t Always See Eye-To-Eye
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Rock and Triple H do regularly see things differently. Furthermore, some within the company feel Rock has an “edge” because he’s close to company President Nick Khan.
However, it was also noted that Triple H has often continued to keep his creative plans in place, while The Rock’s ideas have been moved aside.
“They have different viewpoints on many things. They are at times on different pages. Levesque is entrenched. He was the person in charge with the company doing record business…
But it was noted by those well aware of the situation on the inside that while people think Johnson has the edge being close to Nick Khan, the reality is in the big picture, Levesque has gotten what he wanted. Johnson didn’t beat Reigns for the title and then relinquish it to the people as a babyface.
Rhodes didn’t turn heel. Johnson wasn’t even involved in the Mania (41) build (albeit that was his choice) after the night of the Cena turn.”
During a new interview, former WWE announcer-turned-podcaster, Jonathan Coachman, said he thinks The Rock would like to replace Triple H with Brian Gewirtz. The Great One has worked with Gewirtz for well over 20 years, going back to the latter’s time working as a writer with WWE.
