Reason For The Rock’s Alleged Heat With WWE Possibly Explained

WWE The Rock in shades

The Rock is rumored to have heat with WWE amid his long absence.

Last year, The Final Boss initially returned to have a WrestleMania match against his cousin, Roman Reigns. However, plans changed following fans’ backlash over Cody Rhodes’ position.

Instead, the TKO board member teamed up with The OTC to beat The American Nightmare and Seth Rollins in a tag team match on Night 1. He also appeared on Night 2 to help his cousin in his Undisputed WWE Title match against Rhodes.

Earlier this year, The Rock pitched another idea for Rhodes to turn heel ahead of WrestleMania 41. However, the idea was shot down as John Cena was the one who underwent the character change. The Final Boss was even part of Cena’s heel turn as he gave him the signal to attack The American Nightmare at Elimination Chamber.

However, the 53-year-old has been absent from WWE programming ever since. Speaking on The Coach & Bro Show, former WWE head writer Vince Russo suggested The Rock might have gotten upset due to his pitches being denied.

Well, Coach, when you look at it, I mean, we have learned this the last two WrestleManias. I guess you could say Rock has been overruled because WrestleMania two years ago, he wanted to go Rock and [Reigns].

And you know what happened there. And then, you know, we learned from Cena, we learned from Cody, this year he wanted Cody to turn heel and it was voted against. So, if I am The Rock and I’m like, ‘Okay, you call me in for my advice and my expertise, I put it all on the line, I give it to you and you’re going to go the other way and it’s really not going to turn out that good two years in a row?’

Honestly, Coach, if I’m Rock, I don’t know if I’m putting that company over either. [8:35 onwards]

Vince Russo Expects The Rock To Miss WWE SummerSlam

The Rock has not been seen or heard from in WWE since March 1st. With Jelly Roll reportedly appearing at SummerSlam, many have been wondering if The Final Boss would also be at the premium live event.

Speaking on The Coach & Bro Show, former WWE head writer Vince Russo disclosed that he would be shocked if the TKO board member showed up at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

I can’t believe people still argue with me that there’s not a power struggle or something going on between Triple H and The Rock because, Coach, you’re the one that always comes on this show and says, ‘Guys, there has not been a tweet in three months.’ If that doesn’t speak volumes, Coach, and people don’t want to read between the tea leaves, I just don’t know what else to say. I would be shocked, I would be shocked if Rock is at SummerSlam.
