The Rock Joining With A24 For New Psychological Thriller
The Rock might not be back with WWE anytime soon.
As reported by Deadline, The Rock is set to team back up with A24 for a new psychological thriller, “Breakthrough.”
The film is currently without a director, but it will be produced and financed by A24, while Seven Bucks Productions and Stacey Sher’s Shiny Penny Productions will also be involved. Jacob Epstein and Justin Wolf will serve as executive producers.
It’s believed the WWE legend will play the guru, with casting underway for the lead and other supporting roles.
You can find a synopsis below.
Set in turn-of-the-millennium Southern California, the story follows an alienated young man who comes under the influence of a motivational guru, whose intoxicating charm masks his morally questionable methods of manipulation and his own concealed darkness.
The Rock Heading For Oscar Nod
It’s been reported that The Rock could be heading for his first-ever Oscar nomination for his performance in The Smashing Machine. The movie, which will be released on October 3, follows Mark Kerr as he attempts to keep his life and MMA career on track while battling addiction.
The Rock plays the lead role in the film, which is based on the documentary of the same name.
It’s believed Rock could be nominated for Best Actor, his co-star Emily Blunt for Best Supporting Actress, and the movie itself for Best Picture.
