The Real Reason AEW Cut Dynamite Match Revealed

Tony Khan AEW

One AEW match did not make it to Dynamite despite being advertised as it seemed two stars had to make way for someone else.

On the 22nd of May edition of Dynamite, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm teamed with Mariah May to defeat Saraya and Harley Cameron in what was Saraya’s first match in three months.

Storm went on to retain her title at Double Or Nothing against Serena Deeb but the issues between Mariah May and The Outcasts were set to continue on Dynamite in Los Angeles as she was set to go one-on-one with Saraya. However, that match didn’t take place and it’s now been advertised for the 5th of June edition of AEW’s flagship show.

Saraya seemed to be unhappy as she took to social media where she posted “About to start speaking my mind.” However, she has since deleted that post but did like one from a fan that read: “Did @MariahMayx v @Saraya really get cut ???? wtf man”

Saraya vs. Mariah May Cut By AEW For Mercedes Mone

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave insight into why the match was cut from the show and it seems Saraya and May were forced to make way for the new TBS Champion, Mercedes Mone:

The reason that match wasn’t on is because they decided to put Mercedes Mone on instead.

Mercedes Mone captured the TBS Title from Willow Nightingale at Double Or Nothing and faced her first challenger for the gold on Dynamite. Mone retained her championship against Skye Blue.

A recent report claimed Tony Khan’s current booking of AEW is reminiscent of WWE’s chaos in 2019 under Vince McMahon. Late changes are said to be happening at shows with Double Or Nothing seemingly rewritten several times before the show went live.
