The Moment Drew McIntyre Thought His Neck Was Broken In WWE Match
Drew McIntyre has recalled the scary moment he believed he had broken his neck during a match.
With his third Hell in a Cell match coming up on October 5th, Drew McIntyre has looked back on his first outing in the demonic structure. In 2020, the Scottish Warrior defended the WWE Championship against Randy Orton inside the cage. The brutal match saw the pair climbing up the side of the cell, only for Orton to send McIntyre crashing through an announce table.
During an interview with The Takedown on SI, McIntyre recalled thinking he had broken his neck and back when he landed. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case, but he did bite through his tongue.
“I thought I legitimately broke my neck and broke something in my back. I bit through my tongue. I was spitting up blood, which we actually incorporated into the match. It was a cool visual.
“Legitimately the worst fall of my life. I’ve had these conversations with some of the other guys, like Seth Rollins. If we could both take back one thing in our career, it would be falling off [Hell in a Cell]. Never mind the stuff that happened inside the cell.”
McIntyre went on to lose the bout to Orton, ending his first WWE Title run at 214 days.
Drew McIntyre Explains Real-life Issues With CM Punk
Drew McIntyre has spoken about the real-life issues feeding his onscreen feud with CM Punk. McIntyre admitted he was “pretty annoyed” at Punk returning to WWE, but realised he could turn his feelings about the star into a compelling storyline.
That storyline has been going for several months now but looks like it will come to a conclusive end at Bad Blood when the two face off inside Hell in a Cell.
