The Miz Takes A Parting Shot At John Cena With Popular Internet Meme

The Miz has been one of John Cena’s long-standing rivals in his illustrious career.

Arguably, his biggest win against Cena came at WrestleMania 27, where Miz walked in as the WWE Champion and walked out still clutching on to his title, but with a little help from The Rock.

The 45-year-old had two chances to wrestle the 17-time world champion in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but he squandered them both.

He is also not featured on the show in any capacity, not for the lack of trying.

The Miz, who is a two-time WWE Grand Slam Champion, took a dig at John Cena, who became a Grand Slam Champion for the first time only a few weeks ago, despite wrestling for over 25 years.

The former United States Champion shared a video on his Instagram, captioned:

When you’re a 2-time Grand Slam Champion and Cena is retiring with just 1. If the “Greatest of all time” only has 1 and I have 2, does that make me…

The video, which shows Miz initially, transitions into Jon Hamm dancing in a night club, grooving to DJ Kato and Jon Norgaard’s 2010 track “Turn the Lights Off.”

John Cena will compete in his final wrestling match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII.

The Miz Discusses Missing Out On John Cena Match

The Miz claimed that he was one of the first people to put his hand up when John Cena announced his retirement tour.

He expressed disappointment that his wish to wrestle Cena one last time did not come to fruition. He seemingly put the blame on his fans for not pushing him as a credible opponent like they did for AJ Styles.

During an interview with SI Media, the A-Lister stated that he went to many higher-ups, but the circumstances were not favorable.

I went to everyone… It’s not even like it was shot down. There was instances where it could have happened, and things happen in this industry that nobody really knows about and you don’t need to know about, right?

There was a moment where it could have happened, and then that moment went away because of certain circumstances, and it never came back. I could be angry, right? I could sit there and say, oh, I’m so mad, I’m so angry… I’ve been in WWE long enough that I know things happen, domino effects happen.

If something changes, one thing here goes this way and the other thing goes that way, this thing can’t happen. I’ve been here long enough to know, so I don’t get mad. I get more or less like, okay, how can I make the best of a situation? And what can I do to bring out the best? And that’s all I can control.
