The Hardys Eager To Face Legendary WWE Tag Team
Matt Hardy feels like The Hardy Boyz could team up against one of the best WWE tag teams ever very soon.
The Hardy brothers Matt & Jeff Hardy are still going strong in 2025 after more than 30 years of entertaining fans as one of the best tag teams ever.
At the recent TNA Rebellion PPV, The Hardys lost the TNA Tag Team Titles against The Nemeth Brothers – Nic & Ryan Nemeth.
Matt & Jeff defended those TNA Tag Team Titles at NXT Roadblock in New York City against one of the best current WWE tag teams – the Fraxiom duo consisting of Axiom & Nathan Frazer. It was an impressive showing by The Hardys since they proved they can still hang in the ring with the best teams in the world.
It was reported in November 2024 that The Hardys signed one-year contracts to remain with TNA, which means they could be free agents near the end of the year. That has led to much speculation that they could be back in WWE for a final run in the company where they became major stars in pro wrestling.
The Hardys Want To Face The New Day In WWE
During The Hardys’ last stint in WWE, from 2017 to 2020, they faced many great teams.
While speaking on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy discussed how the brothers are interested in facing the current WWE World Tag Team Champions, The New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
“Time is a flat circle. We showed up in WWE and The New Day was there. Don’t get it twisted. We could definitely show up in WWE again with New Day there, and we might even pull those tag titles off them.
“We need a tag title right now because the Hardys need a tag title at all times because we are proving we are the GOATS.”
The New Day are a record 12-time WWE Tag Team Champions on the main roster and have also held the NXT Tag Team Titles. The Hardys have held various versions of the WWE Tag Team Titles 10 times, and it’s 11 times if you count the WCW Tag Team Titles.
As he continued, Matt talked about how exciting it would be to face off against The New Day.
“We’ve never done anything with The New Day in that capacity. To actually come in and work with New Day, to do a program with The New Day, is something I think that is definitely feasible in the near future. That’s something that would be exciting for me.”
Given both teams’ legendary status, the match would likely be a dream match for most WWE fans and wrestlers themselves.
