The Godfather Reveals Major Regret From WWE Hall Of Fame Speech
The Godfather has revealed that he was left with a horrific regret after delivering his WWE Hall of Fame speech.
Charles Wright was part of WWE for over ten years throughout the nineties and into the 2000s as he portrayed several different characters. Papa Shango burst onto the scene in the early nineties with the mysterious voodoo practitioner taking aim at The Ultimate Warrior.
When that character died a death, he was reborn as the Supreme Fighting Machine, joining Ted DiBiase’s Million Dollar Corporation. During a feud with The Undertaker, he memorably melted down his fabled urn to turn it into a chunky gold chain.
When Faarooq took the Nation of Domination in a new direction, Wright became Kama Mustafa and joined the struggle along with D-Lo Brown, Mark Henry, and The Rock. All of this made for a fine career, but when Wright became The Godfather during the Attitude Era, he cemented his place in the hearts of fans for decades to come.
The Godfather Forgot 1 Major Thing During Speech
That character is what really launched Wright to WWE Hall of Fame status, if not for his in-ring exploits, then for his popularity. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016, and what should have been the highlight of his career soon became a source of major regret.
Speaking on The Velvet Rope with SoCal Val, The Godfather revealed just what that regret was:
My high ass gets up there having fun, not writing anything down… I went through the whole thing… As soon as I got off stage, I went, ‘Did I mention my wife?’ Dude, I went into panic mode. I did not mention my wife’s name in my Hall of Fame speech… She’s wife number three, we’ve been married 25 years… I feel so bad.
