The Former WWE Champion Who Says Eddie Guerrero Was

Former WCW and WWE star Marc Mero has spoken about the incredible in-ring ability of the late Eddie Guerrero, describing him as “phenomenal.”

During an episode of Arn Anderson’s ARN podcast, Mero reflected on his experiences wrestling Eddie Guerrero and how their matches pushed him to improve his own performance.

“Wrestling Eddie, he was just phenomenal in the ring; there’s not a move that Eddie probably couldn’t do,” Mero said. “So, he was another one that just brought my game up to another level when I got to work with him.”

One match that stood out to Mero was their November 13, 1995, encounter on WCW Monday Nitro. At the time, Mero, performing under the name Johnny B. Badd, was the WCW Television Champion. He and Guerrero wrestled to a 10-minute time-limit draw, a rare result that showcased both men’s skills.

“It was a 10-minute time-limit match. I was a champion at the time, and we fought to a draw,” Mero recalled. “It was one of the few times you actually see wrestlers shake hands and hug after the match, so that was a pretty cool moment for me and Eddie.”

Guerrero went on to become a WWE Champion and was posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Renowned for his technical prowess, charisma, and storytelling ability, he remains one of the most respected performers in wrestling history.
