The Elite Regain AEW Trios Titles On AEW Dynamite

The Elite triumphed in their best of seven series and are now two-time AEW Trios Champions!

The finals of the tournament to crown the first ever AEW Trios Champions culminated at AEW All Out and saw The Elite victorious over Adam Page and The Dark Order. However, the three were stripped of the championship due to the brawl that ensued after CM Punk made inflammatory comments about the AEW EVP’s at the post-All Out media scrum.

Death Triangle defeated Best Friends on the next episode of AEW Dynamite to become the next AEW Trios Champions, and when The Elite returned from suspension at AEW Full Gear, many were surprised to see Death Triangle retain.

However, the story wasn’t over between the two teams as it was announced later in the night that their Full Gear bout was only the first match in a best of seven championship series. The next month saw many bouts between Death Triangle and The Elite, and on the January 12th episode of AEW Dynamite, the series reached its conclusion as the teams were tied with three wins each.

The ladder match on Dynamite saw plenty of frenetic action, and near the end of the bout, Kenny Omega seemed to be in peril as he was sent through a table at ringside. However, the former AEW Champion rallied and, despite taking a Black Arrow from PAC, managed to climb the ladder through immense pain and capture one of the AEW Trios Championship belts to secure the victory for his team.

Elsewhere on AEW Dynamite, Adam Cole made his return to television and declared that he was officially back after suffering a serious concussion in June.
