The AEW Match That Made Tony Khan Cry Backstage
Did Tony Khan really cry after this unlikely AEW match, or is one star lying as usual?
Tony Khan has booked and witnessed some of the greatest matches wrestling has seen in the modern era. With talents such as Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, Will Ospreay, CM Punk, MJF, Swerve Strickland, Kazuchika Okada, Adam Page, Toni Storm, and Mercedes Mone at his disposal at different times, there is no shortage of memorable bouts that might make anyone shed a tear.
However, when Stokely Hathaway was forced to take on Adam Copeland in a recent bout, the only emotion most people felt was sheer joy at the thought of Hathaway’s ultimate downfall. But he says he saw Tony Khan crying after it.
Did Tony Khan Really Cry For Stokely Hathaway?
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Stokely Hathaway claimed his performance against Copeland moved the AEW boss to tears:
I mean, if you go back and watch the match. I mean, anyone who saw it, they will attest to the fact that I took Adam Copeland to the limit, you know,, everything I had, you know what I’m saying? I put it into that match and Adam Copeland, he was the one who needed to be escorted out of, uh, out of the building in ambulance, you know, to be honest with you.
But yeah, he thought they were going to get into that ring. He was going to manhandle me. That’s, that’s not what happened at all. It was, it was a great contest. When I got to the back, Tony Khan was crying. You know, he said he’s never seen a performance like that before.
FTR, you know, they gave me a gigantic hug because, again, I took Adam Copeland to his limit. But the difference between me and FTR is the fact that at All Out, they’re not going to take Adam Copeland to the limit. They’re going to end their careers for good.
Adam Copeland will team with Christian Cage at All Out in their hometown of Toronto to clash with FTR. One man involved in that match has vowed to retire if they lose.
