“That’s Not Me” – Ex-WWE Star Disliked Character Vince McMahon Gave Him
When Vince McMahon was leading WWE, he went with what he felt was right regardless of how the superstars felt about it.
Many released superstars were ready to return to the company when Vince McMahon resigned and Triple H took over the creative team.
Currently, The Game is the Chief Content Officer, and WWE superstars have appreciated him for the positive changes he has brought to the creative approach.
Matt Riddle explained why the character Vince McMahon gave him did not suit him
The former WWE Superstar sat for an exclusive interview with Inside The Ring. In that conversation, he revealed that while Vince McMahon gave him a goofy character to work with and he would make it work, it wasn’t one he could resonate with in real life.
When I was on the main roster, Vince, Vince loved me, but he had me as kind of the super goofy character. And don’t get me wrong, once that bell rings, I can go. But I was a goofball, you know, and then my partners or whoever I teamed up with were usually the more serious type, spoke reason to me, etc. And I felt like my character, The Original Bro, had no common sense.
Well, in real life, you know, regardless of some things I’ve done, I do have common sense. And when you’re wrestling, especially like your in-ring ability to have common sense and know what to do. I mean, before I, somebody would say, “Watch your back.” And I’d literally spin in circles trying to watch my back, you know?
You know, to a certain extent, but that’s not really me. So, I feel like on the independent scene, I get to be the more real version of me. I get to say what I think is funny and what I think is going to make people react. And I don’t play like more of a stoner, cartoony, goofy character.
During the same interview, he revealed that Seth Rollins had banned him from mentioning Becky Lynch, the heated conversation he had with Goldberg, and took shots at CM Punk!
