Tammy Sytch Ordered To Pay $5 Million Relating To Manslaughter Conviction
A civil lawsuit filed against Tammy Sytch is now finally closed.
In November 2023, Tammy Sytch, known to wrestling fans as Sunny, was sentenced to 17 years in prison. The WWE Hall of Famer was found guilty of DUI Manslaughter and driving with a suspended or revoked license among other offences.
Sytch was originally arrested in March 2022 after causing an accident that led to the death of 75-year-old Julian Lasseter. The former wrestling star was under the influence at the time. In the past, she has been arrested on several occasions for driving while impaired.
Since her conviction, Sytch has made multiple attempts to get her sentence reduced, but these have all failed. At the time of publication, she’ll be eligible for release in 2039.
Tammy Sytch To Pay $5 Million
A court in Florida has now ordered Sytch to pay a $5 million settlement to the estate of Julian Lasseter. The civil case against Sytch is now considered closed.
As reported by PWInsider, the lawsuit was originally filed on the following grounds:
The lawsuit alleged negligence on the part of Sytch, that the Lasseter family had sustained medical and funeral expenses due to Sytch’s actions and that Lasseter’s adult daughter had “has suffered, and will suffer into the future, the loss of her father’s companionship, instruction, guidance, and mental pain and suffering as a result of her father’s death.”
Tammy Sytch spent four years with WWE between 1994 and 1998, and at her peak was one of the biggest stars in the entire industry. The star also worked for Smoky Mountain Wrestling, ECW, and WCW before being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
Despite her conviction, Sytch remains in the Hall of Fame.
