Syko Stu Talking And Alert Despite “Very Serious” Injuries

Stuart Smith aka Syko Stu

Syko Stu is making progress after being attacked by Raja Jackson.

During a KnokX Pro event on August 23, Raja Jackson jumped into the ring after Stuart Smith, performing as Syko Stu, had competed in a match.

Jackson stormed the ring from where he’d been sitting at ringside. Jackson took out Stu with a version of a double-legged takedown, which appeared to knock him out. With Stu down, Jackson adopted a mount position and delivered a series of punches with the former unable to defend himself.

Jackson was eventually pulled away from Stu, but by then the damage was done. Stu was quickly rushed to the hospital, with early reports suggesting he’d suffered several serious injuries after being knocked unconscious.

The incident came after Stu hit Jackson with an empty beer can earlier in the night as part of a pre-planned angle.

KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy is run by Hall of Famer Rikishi and had been a WWE ID school. However, the sports entertainment giant quickly cut ties with the promotion following the attack by Jackson.

Syko Stu Begins Long Road To Recovery

Despite the severity of the incident and his injuries, there has finally been some good news on Stu’s condition. A new report from TMZ, featuring several quotes from Douglas Malo, who pulled Jackson off Stu, has confirmed that he’s alert and communicating.

Malo noted that despite his progress, Stu has severe facial injuries.

“[Stu] remembers mostly what happened during the early parts of the day. He’s talking a little bit. He’s alert. He’s still got some injuries that are very serious. Not, like, life-threatening serious, but, facial injuries, stuff like that.”

Malo went on to give his recollection of the attack, expressing his frustration at Jackson’s conduct.

“I’m pissed at what he did to my friend. I’m pissed for him punching me in the face. I’m pissed for him that when I went to take him off and told him to calm down, he tried to double leg me… If he would have double legged me, he would have done the same thing to me that he did to Stu, you know?”

In the days following the incident, a GoFundMe has been launched for Smith, which has already raised more than $158,000. AEW star Chris Jericho has provided one of the biggest donations, adding $2,500.
