Swerve Strickland’s AEW Return Timeline Revealed

Swerve Strickland

A new update has shed light on when Swerve Strickland could make his return to AEW.

The last time AEW fans saw Swerve Strickland in action was back at Forbidden Door, where he challenged Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Unified Championship. Okada retained his gold and then took a chair to Strickland’s knee in a vicious attack. This was to write Strickland off TV as he had to undergo meniscus surgery.

Immediately after Okada’s attack on Strickland, Wardlow made his shock return to AEW, but immediately suffered a serious injury when he assaulted Strickland’s manager, Prince Nana, putting the former TNT Champion back on the shelf.

Swerve Strickland Could Be Back In AEW In 2025

Fightful Select has now reported that there is an optimistic hope that Swerve Strickland could be set for a “winter return” to AEW. December has seemingly been mooted as a possibility, but nothing is definite as things stand.

While it would make sense for Strickland to go after Okada on his return, given how he was written off TV, the AEW Unified Champion seems to be on a collision course with his Don Callis Family stablemate and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Konosuke Takeshita.

Strickland could also target the AEW World Title on his return, as it is currently held by his old rival Hangman Adam Page. Strickland put their past behind them to help Page capture that title from Jon Moxley at All In, so he could also offer a helping hand to Page if he’s still having to fight off the entirety of The Opps.
