Swerve Strickland Makes Surprising Claim About WWE

Swerve Strickland has made some interesting comments about his time in WWE.

After an impressive year, Swerve Strickland is one of the hottest commodities in AEW with many tipping him to become World Champion in the not-too-distant future. Since joining the company, Strickland has become a World Tag Team Champion and recently picked up a huge win over Hangman Adam Page at Full Gear.

This has led some to claim that WWE ‘dropped the ball’ by not pushing Strickland while he was with the company. Strickland was with WWE from 2019 until 2021 and enjoyed his most high-profile run as part of Hit Row. However, shortly after being drafted to SmackDown, the entire faction was released.

Appearing on Notsam Wrestling, Strickland said WWE was actually right not to “push the button” on him two years ago.

“Like I saw this earlier, they were like, ‘They [WWE] should have pushed the button on him a year ago or two years ago.’ I’m like, ‘No, they shouldn’t have.’ I’ll admit that,” said the AEW star.

“No, it wasn’t my time. Once again, it goes back to Shawn’s quote, they were like, I didn’t handle this, in this position at that time. Now at a later time, I would’ve probably handled it better. But, now I know where I’m good at, now I know where my position lies, and I can handle that, I can excel at this.”

Jon Moxley Sends Warning To Swerve Strickland

Swerve Strickland was recently on the end of some verbal shots from Jon Moxley. The pair are currently undefeated at the top of the Gold League in the Continental Classic and set to meet in the ring on December 13th.

Moxley blasted Strickland as “cheap,” declaring that he’ll be in for a long night when they go to war on Dynamite.
