Swerve Strickland Names AEW’s Main Character

Swerve Strickland AEW

Swerve Strickland believes he knows who AEW’s main character is.

Over the last six years, AEW has had nine different men hold the company’s World Heavyweight Title. Chris Jericho was the first, while other big names like Kenny Omega, CM Punk, Samoa Joe and MJF have held the gold.

MJF is the youngest and longest reigning AEW World Champion with a 406-day reign, so perhaps we could call him the “main character” of AEW.

Jon Moxley is the current AEW World Champion with the most reigns of them all, four, totaling over 600 days. Since winning the AEW World Title eight months ago, Moxley hasn’t displayed it publicly, which has upset many fans.

Swerve Strickland is also a former AEW World Champion who has become one of the most beloved wrestlers in the company. However, when it comes to who truly is AEW’s “main character,” Swerve told the Battleground Podcast that it’s “Hangman” Adam Page, who is Swerve’s greatest rival.

“He was the right man for the job, regardless if I was going to be World Champion going into All In or if it was going to be Jon Moxley. He’s always been the main character of All Elite Wrestling, which is why I came at him in the first place, you know?”

“Hangman” Adam Page won the Men’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament by beating Will Ospreay in a sensational final match. As a reward for that win, Hangman will challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title at All In Texas on July 12th, which is AEW’s biggest show of the year.

Swerve Strickland Credits AEW Legend Dustin Rhodes For Giving Great Advice

During his rise to the top of AEW, Swerve Strickland has credited the legendary Dustin Rhodes for helping him in his career, even though Rhodes doesn’t necessarily tell Swerve what to do.

“Dustin, in general, he’s been the guy behind a lot of my great matches. He doesn’t tell me what to do, but he suggests things and where they should go.

And he always puts a perspective on it where I’m like, ‘Oh, now you got me really thinking.’ And then I’m like, ‘How would you do it?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I would go this way with it,’ but he never tells me what to do.”

Swerve Strickland also recently revealed that he reached out to basketball legend Allen Iverson to help him with a new Swerve show featuring Reebok.
