Swerve Strickland Drops Retirement Hint

Swerve Strickland AEW

Swerve Strickland has warned fans he won’t be around forever.

After starting training in 2008, Swerve Strickland wrestled for the likes of CZW, MLW, Lucha Underground, Evolve, and more before landing in WWE in 2019.

Strickland initially starred on his own before he began heading up Hit Row with Top Dolla, Ashante “Thee” Adonis, and B-Fab. The group earned plaudits for their work in NXT and was moved to the main roster in October 2021, but was released just weeks later.

In a new interview, Swerve Strickland revealed how a member of the group upset Vince McMahon, which led to their exit.

Following his shock departure, Strickland returned to the independent scene before signing with AEW in March 2022. Since then, his star has reached new heights and he became World Champion in April 2024.

The Clock Is Ticking For Swerve Strickland

Back in August 2024, Swerve Strickland signed a huge new contract with AEW that will keep him tied to the company until 2029. But for the first time, he’s hinted that the deal might be his last as a pro wrestler.

In a post on social media, Strickland wrote that fans have got five more years with him before he’s out.

Yall got these next 5 years with me then I’m ✌🏿……

At Dynasty, Swerve Strickland will challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. Strickland has a great history with the event having won the World Title for the first time at the 2024 edition of the pay-per-view.

The star became the number one contender after beating Ricochet at Revolution.

Should Swerve win the gold he’ll become only the third man in AEW history to win the championship more than once, following in the footsteps of CM Punk and current champion Moxley.
