Swerve Strickland Takes Credit For Creating AEW Madman
Swerve Strickland believes he is the reason why one of his biggest AEW rivals has become a madman.
As a former AEW World Champion who isn’t afraid to make things personal, Swerve Strickland has earned the respect of the fans not just because of his skills in the ring, but what he does outside of the ring as well.
During his rivalry with “Hangman” Adam Page, Swerve got in Page’s head by visiting his house and even going into the same room as Page’s young child. This led to a chaotic storyline that saw Page burn down a house that belonged to Swerve (in the storyline anyway).
When Ricochet debuted in AEW in the summer of 2024, he was cheered by the fans as somebody who would have a fresh start after spending many years in WWE. As the months went on, the fans got tired of Ricochet, he ended up turning heel and he has had a very intense rivalry with Swerve.
That intense rivalry even led to Ricochet attacking Swerve with scissors and it got very bloody after that. It has become one of the most personal rivalries in AEW to start 2025.
In an interview with Austin of Voices In The Streets Unfiltered, Swerve Strickland took credit for Ricochet becoming a “madman” due to Swerve knowing how to push his buttons.
“A madman that I created. He’s got a lot of pent up aggression that I really forced a new side of him to come out. That’s what I do. I poke the bear, I push buttons, but I unlock something special in a lot of these people.”
What Is Swerve Strickland’s Plan After Rivalry With Ricochet?
As he continued, Swerve was asked about what was next for him and of course, he had AEW gold on his mind.
“Once I’m done with Ricochet, it’s onto the AEW World Championship and title reign number two.”
Swerve Strickland will face Ricochet on the February 5th edition of AEW Dynamite in Atlanta in what could become a bloody and violent grudge match.
