Swerve Strickland Could Miss Major AEW PPV
Swerve Strickland’s AEW hiatus could be longer than previously thought.
At All Out Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page unnerved fans with their latest blood-soaked clash. The match saw the pair utilise just about every weapon imaginable, and that was before Page put a hypodermic needle through his rival’s cheek.
The rivalry between Page and Strickland stretches back over a year and their matches have grown increasingly violent, but even so, the Unsanctioned Lights Out Cage Match left fans divided.
AEW star Mercedes Mone also admitted she had mixed emotions about the match and other boundary-pushing stunts on the show.
Uncertainty Around Swerve Strickland
Immediately following All Out it was reported that Serve Strickland would be taking a break from AEW television. The report noted that Strickland was due to take a hiatus after his World Title run and subsequent contract extension.
Although there was no confirmation from the company, it was surmised at the time that Strickland would return on or before WrestleDream on October 12th as it takes place in his hometown.
However, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that might not be the case.
As of the last word, Strickland, who is from Tacoma, was not certain for the show. The term we were given was “might not” as to his appearance.
In the hours after All Out it was also confirmed that MJF will step away from the ring to film a new movie.
