Swerve Strickland To Defend AEW World Title After Rival Yells At Tony Khan

Swerve Strickland entrance AEW Double or Nothing

Swerve Strickland will be back in action on AEW Dynamite.

Since winning the World Championship at Dynasty by defeating Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland’s challengers have come from some unlikely places. The champion made the first defence of his title against Claudio Castagnoli, before facing Christian Cage at Double or Nothing thanks to The Elite.

That being said, his upcoming match with Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door, arrived via a more traditional route. On the May 29th edition of Dynamite, Ospreay won a Casino Gauntlet match to book his shot at the gold. Should the British star get the better of Strickland he’ll hold both the World and International Titles heading into All In.

Not that Strickland will be allowed to take it easy between now and June 30th.

Swerve Strickland To Face Roderick Strong Test

On Collision, Roderick Strong defeated Lio Rush to bounce back from his defeat to Ospreay at Double or Nothing. However, the victory wasn’t enough to improve his mood.

After the match, Strong stormed past Lexi Nair to confront Tony Khan and new EVP Christopher Daniels. The star said he was supposed to be the next man into the gauntlet match on Dynamite, but didn’t get the chance as Ospreay won. Strong continued yelling and forcefully making his point, telling Khan he should be the man facing Ospreay at Forbidden Door.

With Strong’s rant complete, Khan made the match official for Dynamite.
