Swerve Strickland Faces Huge AEW Title Challenge At Forbidden Door

Swerve Strickland

Swerve Strickland will have his hands full at Forbidden Door as his next challenger for the AEW World Championship earned their shot on Dynamite.

Swerve Strickland retained his AEW World Title at Double Or Nothing with a big win over Christian Cage despite interference from The Patriarchy. On Dynamite in Los Angeles, Strickland got a shot at revenge against Killswitch who had previously taken a lock of the champion’s hair.

Strickland defeated the monster formerly known as Luchasaurus before Prince Nana gave the AEW World Champion a pair of scissors to take some hair for himself.

Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay At Forbidden Door

The night’s main event saw a Casino Gauntlet match take place to find the number one contender for the AEW World Title that will face Strickland at Forbidden Door. Stars from CMLL and NJPW entered the match alongside AEW talents but ultimately it was the current AEW International Champion Will Ospreay that picked up the win.

Many fans might be surprised at the winner of the bout as many expected Will Ospreay to receive his first shot at the AEW World Championship when the company heads to Wembley Stadium – in Ospreay’s home country – for All In on August 25th.

Should Ospreay defeat Strickland at Forbidden Door it remains to be seen what will become of the International Title whether it is unified with the main championship or if it continues to remain a separate title completely. Swerve Strickland will no doubt be hoping there is no need to find an answer to that question.
