Swerve Strickland Calls AEW Star “The Greatest Of All Time”
Swerve Strickland thinks his latest challenger is the best ever.
At All In, Swerve Strickland will defend the AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson. The American Dragon earned his shot at the gold with victory in the Owen Hart Cup after seeing off Shingo Takagi, PAC, and Hangman Adam Page.
To add further intrigue to the match, Bryan Danielson recently revealed that his injuries are mounting up, and he’s been advised not to wrestle until facing Strickland. The veteran is closing on the end of his full-time career, admitting his contract expires on August 1st.
When Danielson finally brings down the curtain on his full-time career, Danielson will be remembered as one of the all-time greats. But according to Strickland, there’s no one better.
Swerve Strickland Says Bryan Danielson Is The Greatest
In a new interview with Justin Barrasso for Sports Illustrated, Strickland addressed his rivalry with Danielson, commenting that he’s the best the industry has ever seen.
“Bryan’s not just experienced, he’s the greatest of all time. That’s who I’m going up against–a first ballot Hall of Famer. I’ve never faced anyone like him. But he’s never faced anyone like me.”
The World Champion recalled being praised by Danielson but warned he’s become a “different beast” during this World Title run.
“Bryan told me I’m a special breed of talent,” said Strickland. “I’m also a special breed of danger. I know we wrestled before, but he’s never faced me like this. Bryan is facing me after my Texas Deathmatch against Hangman Page. He’s facing me after I beat Will Ospreay–and Christian Cage and Samoa Joe.
“I’m a different beast. I can’t wait for him to see it.”
It’s been announced that Danielson will address fans on the July 31st episode of Dynamite.
