Swerve Strickland Works Through AEW Frustrations With Tony Khan
Swerve Strickland is not immune to frustrations in AEW but it seems he has faith in the company as he confirms how long he’s sticking around.
At Revolution, Swerve Strickland clashed with Ricochet in a match where it seemed it all might be too much for Nana and a split was coming. Thankfully for fans of the pair that never happened as Strickland picked up the win and after the match got on his knees to present the robe to Nana. But their night wasn’t done.
In the main event, Christian Cage crashed the AEW World Title match between Jon Moxley and Adam Copeland. Cage cost Copeland the win before signing the contract for his own title match turning things into a three way. However, Moxley was able to lock Cage in a bulldog choke that he eventually passed out from which meant Moxley retained the AEW World Championship.
On his way to the back, however, Jon Moxley came face-to-face with Prince Nana who seemed to be sending a message to the champion but it was all a distraction. Perched high above them on the guardrail was Strickland who delivered a huge Swerve Stomp to the champion, standing tall as the show went off the air.
Swerve Strickland Admits AEW Frustration
In an interview with Bootleg Kev, Swerve Strickland confirmed how long he’s contracted to AEW and admitted he still gets frustrated in the company but thinks he’s able to work through those issues better than he did elsewhere in his career:
Yup (I’m signed to AEW until 2029). There’s nowhere else I would rather be. A lot of people say, ‘Oh, that’s just a PR. He’s supposed to say that sh*t.’ Nah, I mean that sh*t from the bottom of my heart. There’s no other place I’d rather be and do I have bad days as opposed to good days? Of course. This is a job. I have frustrations here and there. But, I work through those frustrations better here than I did in other places and anywhere else in the world.
Whether it’d be Lucha Underground, MLW, WWE, NXT. Tony Khan and me have always worked through frustrations… Yeah (he lets me cook). But there’s certain times I’m like, ‘Ah, we didn’t cook as best as we could have been able to cook’ and I’m someone, I’m not going to half-ass that.
