Swerve Strickland Responds To AEW All Out Condemnation

Swerve Strickland AEW Steel Cage

Swerve Strickland had some interesting remarks for critics of his AEW All Out match.

The main event of AEW All Out in Chicago was a matchup between two former AEW World Champions “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland. It’s a rivalry that started nearly a year earlier and produced some incredibly violent matches that will be remembered by AEW fans forever.

When the Swerve-Hangman match was announced, AEW made a point to say it was an Unsanctioned Steel Cage Match. AEW Owner Tony Khan would go on to call it a “Lights Out” Steel Cage Match meaning that All Elite Wrestling wouldn’t be responsible for what happened.

As expected, the Swerve and Hangman match was a bloody battle with weapons like a staple gun being used as well as a cinderblock. There were moves that were done on the cinderblock including a stiff Powerbomb on the cinderblock that was painful for a lot of people to watch. The ending of the match saw Hangman hit Swerve in the head with a stiff chair shot, which is rare in today’s era of pro wrestling. The referee Paul Turner deemed that Swerve was knocked out, so Turner called for the bell since knockout was one of the ways you could win along with pinfall or submission.

In a post on X/Twitter, Swerve posted photos of the match with Hangman while also reminding fans that it was unsanctioned.

Swerve Strickland Taking Time Off From AEW

Following his defeat at AEW All Out, it has been reported that Swerve Strickland is likely going to take some time off from AEW television. Swerve recently signed a massive contract extension with AEW and part of his agreement was to give him some time off after All Out. It’s not known if he has an injury or if it’s just a break for a guy who has worked a heavy schedule since joining the company.

In addition to Swerve taking a break from AEW, it’s expected that MJF will be on a break as well since he’s going to film a movie although it’s not known how long he might be gone for.
