Surprising Name Under WWE Contract After 2021 Release

Tyler Breeze Drake Maverick WWE NXT Stand & Deliver

One popular former WWE star is receiving a paycheck from the company after being released in 2021.

During his time on WWE’s main roster as well as in NXT, Tyler Breeze found favor with the crowd as a popular performer. After quite some time as the self-obsessed Prince Pretty, Breeze formed a partnership with Fandango, and the duo found renewed success as the Fashion Police.

In late 2018, Breezango returned to NXT, where they became NXT Tag Team Champions in August of 2020. The pair would lose the belts the following October, and both men were released from their contracts in June of 2021.

Breeze hasn’t returned to in-ring competition since his release, but he has been regularly featured on the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel and also appeared on The Bump. According to a new report from Fightful Select, Breeze has been under an UpUpDownDown-related contract with WWE for “quite some time.” Fightful was unable to learn specifics of the contract and whether it prevents Breeze from wrestling independent dates, but one WWE source did indicate the deal prevents him from appearing on AEW programming.

According to the report, Breeze has been heavily praised for his investments and work outside of WWE, particularly when it comes to training talent alongside Shawn Spears at their Flatbacks wrestling academy. The star is also said to have made smart investments in real estate, setting him up well for life outside the squared circle.

Breeze is set to return to in-ring competition for Prestige Wrestling on September 1st. Rey Fenix, The Motor City Machine Guns, and Matt Cardona have also been announced for the show.
