SummerSlam Update On Bianca Belair And Sasha Banks Match
A new report has shed light on Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair’s status ahead of their scheduled SummerSlam match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Belair and Banks headlined night one of WrestleMania 37 with The EST of WWE winning her first gold in the company on The Grandest Stage Of Them All. Meanwhile, Sasha Banks then took some time off WWE television before making her return to the blue brand and immediately targeting Belair.
The two women are scheduled to face eachother in a WrestleMania rematch at SummerSlam in Allegiant Stadium, but recent rumours have swirled regarding both women’s status for that bout. Belair and Banks were scheduled to take part in live events over the weekend in the Carolinas but ended up missing those events.
It has been reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that both women are “cleared” to compete and unless “something unforeseen” occurs they will be at this week’s SmackDown as well as SummerSlam in Las Vegas the night after.
The last match Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair competed in came on the 7th of August at a live event in Fort Myers, Florida. Their original bout ended in a double count-out before Belair bested her rival in one minute.
Banks and Belair are one of three title matches scheduled for the SmackDown side of SummerSlam. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos defend their title in a family affair against Rey and Dominik Mysterio. In what is likely to be the night’s main event Roman Reigns defends his WWE Universal Title against the returning John Cena. Should Cena claim the victory and the title he will break the tie he currently has with Ric Flair and become a seventeen-time champion of the world. Rounding out the blue brand’s action is the grudge match between Edge and Seth Rollins. Rollins cost Edge the Universal Title at Money In The Bank and the Rated-R Superstar will be looking for revenge in his first SummerSlam bout since 2010.
