Success Of John Cena’s Heel Turn Hinges On One Factor Says Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan has tipped his black and white bandana to John Cena.
At Elimination Chamber, John Cena shocked the world by turning heel for the first time in over 20 years.
After winning the Elimination Chamber and booking his shot at the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania, Cena sold his soul to The Rock. Moments earlier, Rhodes turned down a proposition from Rock, telling the star to “go f*ck himself.”
This saw Cena and Rhodes embrace, but as they did so, Rock gave the signal, and the 16-time World Champion delivered a thunderous low blow to the American Nightmare.
When all was said and done, Cena and The Rock stood tall over a bloody Rhodes as the show went off the air.
Hulk Hogan Full Of Praise For The Rock & John Cena
One man who knows a thing or two about heel turns is Hulk Hogan.
Cena’s shock alliance with The Rock immediately drew comparisons with Hogan’s own turn to the dark side at Bash at the Beach 1996. At the event, Hogan famously aligned with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash to form the nWo.
During an interview with Undisputed’s Justin Barrasso, Hogan said Cena’s heel turn is one of the best he’s seen in a long time.
“It’s one of the best heel turns I’ve seen in a long, long time. All the major players were involved. I can’t say enough about The Rock, too–he was incredible. They did it right, I’ll tell you that.”
Looking ahead, Hogan said the success of the angle depends on Cena’s commitment to WWE and the story.
“It’s going to work as long as John wants to stay plugged in. I don’t know his schedule or how many days he’ll work, but he definitely has everyone’s attention. Plus, The Rock is involved, too. This could heat up more than anyone is expecting. It could be so hot that it’s crazy, which will lead to a WrestleMania match you’ll never forget.”
Meanwhile, Hulk Hogan recently found himself wrapped up in yet another controversy.
During an event at the Thirsty Cowboy in Medina, Ohio, on August 19, 2024, to promote his new American Made beer, Hulk Hogan and his crew threw cans of the beverage into the crowd. According to a report at the time, a woman was hit by one of these cans and knocked to the ground.
The woman involved has since filed a lawsuit against Hogan and his beer company.
