Why Stone Cold Steve Austin Refused To Fight Hulk Hogan In WWE

Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Late Hulk Hogan are two of the biggest names in the pro-wrestling industry.

Despite being inactive for years, their popularity with the WWE Universe did not fade.

However, one of the biggest “What ifs” was a match between the WWE veterans.

Stone Cold Steve Austin had a reason to refuse to fight Hulk Hogan

While fans would have loved it, and the match was proposed as well, The Texas Rattlesnake refused to be a part of it.

On Grilling JR, Jim Ross revealed that Austin’s refusal to fight Hogan did not stem from how the end was being proposed. However, it was from the fact that Stone Cold Steve Austin was a perfectionist and did not feel the duo would be able to have a great match.

He didn’t think they had chemistry,” Ross stated. “He thought the match would s**k, and he wasn’t gonna stand for having a s**k main event, especially at a WrestleMania. That’s the story there. It had nothing to do about the finish or what could the finish be [sic] or what would the finish be whatsoever. But it had to do with Steve; he was a perfectionist. He wanted to have a great match, not a good match, but a great match, and he simply thought he could not get that done with Stone Cold versus Hogan.

However, Stone Cold Steve Austin admitted that he regretted never having a singles match against Hulk Hogan during The Hulkster’s appearance on The Steve Austin Show in 2019.
