How Sting Truly Felt About AEW Run And Tony Khan

Tony Khan hugs Sting on AEW Dynamite

Sting has looked back on his AEW run after ending his long career with the company.

The legendary WWE and TNA Hall of Famer Sting had a long career in pro wrestling that lasted about 40 years and came to an end at AEW Revolution 2024.

During his AEW run, Sting had a record of 29-0, and every match he had was as a tag team with Darby Allin. In their final match at Revolution, the duo beat The Young Bucks in an incredible Tornado Tag Team Match that saw The Stinger’s adult sons getting involved as well.

Sting made his name on a national level with the NWA in the late 1980s, then it became WCW through the 1990s before their 2001 closure. Instead of going to WWE, The Stinger spent most of the next decade in TNA, before eventually showing up in WWE in late 2014 for a run that only saw him compete in a few matches.

While reflecting on his career, The Stinger talked to Going Ringside about working for those four major pro wrestling companies. In doing so, he praised AEW heavily.

“They’re all different in some ways. But the thing that I liked about AEW is it just felt like my brand. It felt like home to me.”

Sting Believes AEW’s Tony Khan Was The Best

Regarding AEW’s Owner, President, and Head of Creative, Tony Khan, The Stinger praised Khan heavily.

“He was the best. He was phenomenal. He treated me like gold the whole way through. Yeah, if it wasn’t for Tony, I wouldn’t have had the run that I had, and Darby, my partner.” (H/T Fightful)

During the same interview, Sting also had kind words to say about the 17-time WWE World Champion John Cena, who will have his final match this Saturday, December 13th.

Kudos to John. He’s one of the greatest of all time. I love to see it. I’m rooting for him. I’m hoping it turns out to be phenomenal. I’m sure that it will. I’m always rooting for those older guys, you know.
