Sting Name Drops Major WWE Star On Dynamite
MJF has been involved in a battle in recent weeks with the other male pillars of the company but on Dynamite the AEW World Champion came face to face with The Icon, Sting.
Since Sting arrived in AEW in late 2020 he has been by the side of former TNT Champion Darby Allin. Allin and Sting remain undefeated in tag team competition together but recent developments show that the 30-year-old has his sights set on MJF’s AEW World Title.
On Dynamite, fans in Milwaukee were treated to another soliloquy by the champion as he predicted that Darby Allin would never be on his level. This brought out Sting, who had not been seen on AEW television for several months, and he made light of the assertion that he was a cheerleader for Darby Allin.
Sting then reminded MJF that he himself once had a cheerleader and his name was Cody Rhodes. Sting noted that he also believed it was only a matter of time until Darby Allin became AEW World Champion.
During the very early days of AEW, MJF and Cody Rhodes were seen on-screen together with the young star doing his best to ingratiate himself to The American Nightmare much to the dismay of the rest of the Nightmare Family. That partnership ended when MJF turned on Rhodes after he had cost Rhodes his AEW World Title match against Chris Jericho when The Salt of the Earth threw in the towel.
Cody Rhodes has not had his troubles to seek in WWE in recent weeks after losing the WrestleMania 39 main event to Roman Reigns, he was viciously attacked by Brock Lesnar on the following night’s Raw.
