Sting Makes Surprising Admission About AEW Future
Sting has clarified his future plans following his retirement from the ring and revealed how connected he still is to AEW.
Sting brought the curtain down on his legendary career at Revolution in March 2024 as he retired undefeated in AEW. The WWE Hall of Famer teamed with Darby Allin at that event to put their AEW Tag Team Championship on the line against The Young Bucks.
The crowd erupted when Sting tapped out Matthew Jackson with his Scorpion Death Lock to retain the gold and send the crowd home happy with an emotional goodbye.
Sting Still Part Of AEW
Speaking to Kayfabe Friends, Sting revealed he’s still under a multi-year deal with AEW and still plans to make appearances for the company when needed:
I signed a multi-year deal with AEW. Obviously, not to wrestle anymore, it’s like a licensing deal, a legends deal if you want to call it that. I’ll do appearances with them on and off depending on what they want.
Since his final match in AEW, Sting has only made one appearance in the company. The Icon shocked The Elite in Wembley Stadium at All In when he appeared to help Darby Allin fight off The Young Bucks and Jack Perry. He teased another All In appearance in 2025 when he noted that he’ll be watching “from somewhere” when the event was announced for Texas.
