Sting Could Make Very Special WWE Return

Former WWE Champion Explains Why Sting Is Not A Wrestling Icon

Sting could make a special one-night return to WWE.

On March 7, it was announced that Lex Luger would finally be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The former World Champion has been open about his desire to be inducted and recently discussed his ever-improving relationship with the company.

Luger began his career in 1985 before finding fame with WCW and Jim Crockett Promotions. The star later signed with WWE in 1993, but he returned to WCW in 1995 and won the World Heavyweight Championship for a second time while also winning tag team gold alongside Sting.

During their careers, Sting and Luger were great rivals and allies on television, and they developed a strong friendship that remains intact to this day.

After he was announced for the Hall of Fame it quickly became apparent that Luger wanted his great friend to induct him, and it seems WWE will be taking steps to make that happen, despite his ties to AEW.

Sting On Verge Of One-Off WWE Return

According to a new report from Fightful Select, WWE was “planning to make overtures” to land Sting for the Hall of Fame ceremony so he could induct Luger. It’s unclear whether AEW would need to sign off on such an agreement, but Luger has informed WWE he’d like his friend to handle the induction.

Interestingly, the former WCW, WWE, and AEW star had only been expected in Las Vegas during WrestleMania week for a “limited schedule,” but this has been expanded.

Away from Luger, there remains no word on who will induct Triple H, Michelle McCool, or the Natural Disasters.
