Steve McMichael Moved Into Hospice Care

Steve McMichael has been moved into hospice care.

As reported by WGN in Chicago, NFL and WCW legend Steve “Mongo” McMichael has been moved from a ventilator in the ICU and into hospice care.

The former Chicago Bear has battled a number of health issues in recent years, announcing heโ€™d been diagnosed with ALS in 2021.

McMichael’s sister posted the following statement on social media.

My brother was moved to a hospice care facility today. In heaven, he’ll join our Mom, Dad, & Granny where they’ll talk non-stop 4 a month. ๐Ÿ˜‡ Thank you @chicagobears, fans, @espn, @NFL, & @ProFootballHOF 4 your support of our superstar. ๐Ÿ™ #SteveMcMichael #TeamMongo #MongoStrong

Steve McMichael Beloved By NFL And Wrestling Fans

After an impressive athletic career in high school, Steve McMichael found great success in College football, graduating as an All-American, and eventually being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

McMichael was drafted by the New England Patriots in 1980 but was cut after just one year. However, he went on to have a glittering career with the Chicago Bears, which included winning Super Bowl XX.

After calling time on his career, the former defensive tackle took his first steps into pro wrestling with the WWF before signing with WCW in 1995.

During his time with the company, โ€œMongoโ€ appeared in storylines with many of the biggest names the promotion had to offer. He spent much of his early run as part of the Four Horsemen and wrestled stars such as Goldberg, Jeff Jarrett, and the British Bulldog.

The star was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in early 2024.
