Steve Austin could feature at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

Since retiring from full-time competition in 2003, Steve Austin has stayed out of the ring aside from one famous night in Dallas, Texas.

On that occasion, Austin got a chance to roll back the years one more time in his hometown opposite Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38. Although fans and fellow veterans were full of praise for Austin’s performance, the man himself remains frustrated by his again body’s physical limitations.

In a new interview with Christopher Kamrani of The Athletic, Austin said he was “mad” he wasn’t able to give Owens a taste of what it was like to share the ring with peak Stone Cold.

“(Owens) got in the ring with the name Stone Cold Steve Austin, but he didn’t get in with the true Stone Cold who was a (expletive) machine. When the ball rang, I was an (expletive). And he didn’t get that guy. That’s what I was mad about. I wanted him to know what it was like to be in there with the (expletive) when he’s on. You try to be the guy you were, you try to be in that alpha state. Although your mindset is there, physically you are not,”

These days Austin is content to stay at home on his ranch while competing in long-distance buggy races. But underneath the 59-year-old ‘cat dad’ exterior, there’s still a little bit of the old Stone Cold lurking.

Although he admitted it takes a lot for him to leave Nevada, he was quick to point out that WrestleMania 41 is in Las Vegas.

“I said I won’t leave Nevada. It’s hard to get me out of this state,” he stated. “But … Wrestlemania next year is in Vegas. That’s in Nevada.”

Steve Austin Turned Down WrestleMania 40 Spot

Although he hasn’t appeared for WWE since WrestleMania 38, Steve Austin turned down the chance to be part of WrestleMania 40.

In the main event, Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns following interference from The Usos, John Cena, Seth Rollins, The Rock, Solo Sikoa, and The Undertaker. However, it was reported after the event that ‘Taker’s showdown with The Rock during the match was originally meant for Austin.

The report noted that Austin chose to miss the show after failing to reach a “financial agreement” with WWE.
