Steve Austin Wants WWE To “Shine The Light On Current Superstars”
Steve Austin has called on WWE to “shine the light” on what he feels is the best roster since the Attitude Era.
With WrestleMania 39 coming in close, speculation is rife on what role “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will play in WWE’s return to Hollywood.
After returning to action last year to face Kevin Owens, his first match since 2003, WWE approached The Rattlesnake about following that match with a new bout this year.
Austin turned down the chance to battle with Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns and The Beast Brock Lesnar, as he wants the focus to be on the talent appearing each and every week.
During an interview with Justin of The Wrestling Classic, Steve Austin made comparisons between the strength in depth of the current roster, with that of the infamous Attitude Era.
Austin stated that the possibility of seeing him at WrestleMania was “to be determined”, and shared his thoughts on how WWE should be focusing their efforts on giving current talent a platform.
“I haven’t heard anything. We’re literally, as we speak right now, about two weeks away and it’s the biggest show of the year. Right now, I think, WWE has got as good a roster as they’ve had since the Attitude Era. They got a deep roster, so I think many guys and gals need those coveted spots. They got plenty of names to draw from plenty of talent to draw from. I think they should shine the light and the cameras on their current superstars.”
Steve Austin has also discussed why Kevin Owens was chosen for last year’s comeback match. Whilst no plans have been made official for this year, Austin did help promote the new WWE 2K23 game on March 16th, a date that in recent years has been named as 3:16 day.
Austin attended a promotional launch event, handing out beers and posing for photos. This year’s edition has John Cena on the cover, someone who will be competing in Hollywood, facing off with Austin Theory for the United States Championship.
