Steve Austin Admits Turning Down Big Money WrestleMania Offer
Steve Austin said no to an idea pitched to him by a WWE superstar at WrestleMania 41.
It was an eventful WrestleMania 41 experience for the WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, even though he admitted he wasn’t physically able to do anything due to double knee surgery.
During the Hall of Fame ceremony, Austin’s iconic WrestleMania 13 match with Bret Hart was inducted as an Immortal Moment. The next night, Austin appeared on stage with Bret to salute the fans.
On WrestleMania 41 Sunday, Steve Austin drove around the ring in a 4-wheeler and unfortunately crashed into the barricade, which knocked down a fan in the front row. The Rattlesnake admitted he was embarrassed by it and said it wasn’t the “greatest day at the office.”
Logan Paul, who defeated AJ Styles at WrestleMania, also revealed that he pitched Stone Cold the idea of appearing in a Prime bottle. Paul owns Prime Energy Drink, which sponsors WWE, and he discussed his pitch to Austin, who turned down the idea.
We offered Steve a million dollars to be in the Prime bottle. He didn’t do it. So instead he ran a poor woman over with an ATV. We offered him a million like bro, do you want to get in this bottle? I don’t think he even considered it for a second. Imagine it, he face-revealed the Prime bottle and it’s Stone Cold?! He could have done anything, which is why it would have worked.
Steve Austin Explains Why He Turned Down Logan Paul’s Offer
In an interview with Ariel Helwani of The Ariel Helwani Show, Steve Austin confirmed that he turned down Paul’s offer and explained why.
“So since it’s out there, yeah, I turned it down.
I’m in the beer business. I sell Broken Skull Beer. And you know, we’re in about 25 or 30 states. I don’t know anything about his product. I don’t know about the ingredients in it, if it’s good, if it’s bad, or whatever. So, you know, it just it wasn’t my thing. So, you know, yeah, I turned it down just because I wasn’t into it. And that’s no disrespect to him or his product.”
While Austin would go on to credit Paul for his success, he also said endorsing Prime by being in a giant bottle wasn’t a great fit for Stone Cold.
“Like I said, he’s doing really well. Obviously he’s hustling and he’s going and getting it and more power to him. It just wasn’t a great fit for Steve Austin.”
Considering how well Steve Austin has done as a pro wrestler and a celebrity over the last 30+ years, one million dollars likely wasn’t enough to entice him to be in a Prime bottle. Perhaps if Paul had offered more money, it would have happened, but we’ll never know for sure.
