Steve Austin Being Discussed For WrestleMania In-Ring Return

Steve Austin could be the latest veteran to make a comeback.

Although it’s yet to be officially announced by WWE, WrestleMania 43 is expected to be held in Saudi Arabia in 2027.

The event is expected to become the most expensive and one of the most star-studded wrestling shows in history, with talks already underway to bring back several legends.

It’s already been reported that discussions between officials, WWE, and The Rock are taking place. Furthermore, those talks are said to be progressing well, and an agreement isn’t far away. As noted in that report, The Rock would wrestle in the main event, landing the biggest talent pay-off for a single event in wrestling history in the process.

Interestingly, it seems The Rock isn’t the only WWE legend being lined up for the event.

Steve Austin Could Make WWE Comeback

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE and Saudi officials are discussing a potential in-ring comeback for Steve Austin. Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority is pushing for a stacked event with a series of WWE legends, and that could include Austin.

With regard to Austin specifically, much will depend on whether he feels he’s physically able to perform. The veteran is said to be satisfied with his most recent match with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 if that proves to be his final outing.

Austin was limited to a non-wrestling role at WrestleMania 41 after undergoing knee replacement surgery, and he turned down appearing at WrestleMania 40. His spot in the run-in filled main event was taken by The Undertaker.

Interestingly, it was reported in June that Steve Austin would be open to wrestling again, and he’d told those close to him earlier in the year that he “might have one more left” in him. While this is far from a guarantee, it confirms that if the right opportunity came up, talks would at least be possible.
