Steve Austin Confirms WWE Talks
Steve Austin was “close” to appearing at WrestleMania 40.
Ever since Steve Austin made a successful return to the ring at WrestleMania 38, he’s been linked with one more match. That outing surpassed everyone’s expectations — including his, a fact that now keeps the return rumours alive.
Austin’s most recent WWE near miss came at WrestleMania 41 where it was reported he was supposed to be part of the main event featuring Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, The Usos, John Cena, The Rock, and The Undertaker. After the match came and went without Steve Austin it was reported he and WWE couldn’t reach a “financial agreement” concerning an appearance.
In a new interview with Adrian Hernandez, the WWE Hall of Famer attempted to set the record straight, confirming there were talks regarding the event.
“It was close. They certainly reached out to me. We had conversations. My wife and I had some things going on and I didn’t need to go to Philly at that time. I have said, I miss Mania and Philly was a good town for me back in the day and I appreciate those fans. Couldn’t make it down on that one. WrestleMania this year is in Vegas.”
Steve Austin Drops WrestleMania Hint
Speaking elsewhere, Steve Austin teased that he could be involved at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.
While Austin is content to stay at home on his ranch while competing in long-distance buggy races, his love of wrestling still burns strong. After admitting that it takes a lot for him to leave his current home state of Nevada, the WWE legend somewhat cheekily pointed out that WrestleMania 41 will be taking place in the state.
