Steve Austin Reveals The 1 Thing Vince McMahon Always Screwed Up
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin thinks that Vince McMahon constantly screwed up something about their on-screen WWE relationship.
The rivalry between WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was arguably the biggest feud in WWE history, and it certainly led the way in the Attitude Era.
McMahon played the evil owner of WWE who hated what Austin represented, while the fans loved Austin because of his defiant attitude toward McMahon and anyone else who dared to stand in his way.
While McMahon was often seen in a suit during his career, he did step into the ring with Austin and also took the Stone Cold Stunner from Austin on many occasions. However, McMahon’s selling of the Stunner was never a pretty sight.
During his lengthy interview with Insight’s Chris Van Vliet, Austin confirmed that Vinny Mac was the worst at taking the Stunner.
“Easily Vince is the worst.”
When Austin was asked if Linda McMahon took the Stunner worse, Austin defended Vince’s estranged wife and then went on to trash Vince again.
“Well, because there’s multiple occasions with Vince where, Jesus, you can screw one up. Of course, me and Linda, she was like a second mom to me. I didn’t see her often, but when she was there, she was just so nice to me, and we would always have great conversations. So I felt bad that that one didn’t turn out good.
But Vince had so many opportunities, and they were always so awful, especially the one at WrestleMania [where I wrestled] Kevin Owens, it was just terrible. So I had to start laughing, because you got to let everybody know that, hey, that’s really bad. Rock took a good one. Scott Hall took a good one. A bunch of people. There’s so many, I can’t list them all.”
Pat McAfee Impressed Steve Austin With Stunner Sell
Steve Austin mentioned wrestling Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, which was the main event of the WrestleMania Saturday event. At WrestleMania Sunday, that’s when Austin did that awful Stunner with Vince McMahon. There were also two great Stunner sellers at the event – Austin Theory and Pat McAfee. Stone Cold had good things to say about them.
“Oh, premiere. I don’t know what the kid’s (Austin Theory) doing now. Is he still in WWE? [He is]. Okay, yeah. Good kid. I mean, I thought, Man, the sky was the limit for him. He took a great one.
McAfee took a great one, just the fade back, money. And of course, when he tumbled out a ring, he was still drinking the beer while he’s laying on the mat. F*cking classic. What an entertainer. And he was thinking about it, you know, I knew his ad lib. He wasn’t planning that. It just happened, and it was straight money.”
Regarding the current WWE climate, Steve Austin said he wants wrestlers to understand the importance of selling moves during a match because otherwise, it looks like too much of a dance.
