Stephanie McMahon Was “Impressed” With Young John Cena

Ahead of Survivor Series, Stephanie McMahon sat down for an interview with Megan Morant, where she was asked to share her first impression of John Cena.

McMahon, who’ll be co-hosting John Cena’s last show alongside Joe Tessitore, shared that she doesn’t remember meeting Cena on his first day, but she remembers what she thought of him when he started wrestling in WWE.

She was very impressed by him when she saw him compete in the ring, and thought he had a lot of potential.

I don’t remember meeting him on his very first day. I remember when he first started. And I remember always thinking he had something, you know? And I was like, who is this kid? Where is he from? Although at the time he wasn’t a kid to me, ’cause he was, who’s this person is what I should say.

He always seemed to have something, but we couldn’t quite figure out what it was. You know, it wasn’t registering yet with the audience. You know, I can’t remember if he was the prototype when he first started. I know that’s what he was prior to WWE, but we were trying to figure it out. But I remember being very impressed. Now, 23 years later, with countless matches and a plethora of unforgettable moments under his belt, he’s set to retire in December.

John Cena’s last match in WWE will take place at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

The winner of the Last Time is Now tournament will be his final WWE opponent.
