Stephanie McMahon Turned To Jiu-Jitsu To Deal With WWE Exit
Stephanie McMahon needed to get her confidence back.
Stephanie McMahon announced that she was going on hiatus from WWE in May 2022. However, just a month later, she was back after her father, Vince McMahon, announced he was stepping down and “retiring.”
This departure came after several allegations of sexual abuse were made public.
In January 2023, Stephanie stepped down for a second time after Vince forced his way back onto the company’s Board of Directors. Although she initially remained out of the spotlight, Stephanie began making appearances with WWE again in 2024 and eventually launched a podcast and TV show in association with the company.
However, she doesn’t have an official role with WWE.
Stepping Away From WWE Took A Toll On Stephanie McMahon
On the latest episode of his What’s Your Story? podcast, McMahon sat down with John Cena to discuss his legendary WWE and impending retirement. During the conversation, Stephanie McMahon opened up about her own relationship with WWE and the struggles she faced while stepping away.
McMahon added that she took up jiu-jitsu in an effort to regain her confidence.
“Jiu-jitsu healed me… a fair amount,” she stated. “It has helped me get to remind myself of who I am and what I’m capable of… I lost myself for a little bit, I lost my confidence, and I found it again in Jiu-Jitsu… it was something that I did completely on my own and with no one else’s help… I did it for me.”
During an interview back in January, Stephanie McMahon admitted that she wanted to “disappear” from WWE. However, she claimed she never stopped being proud of the company or her connection to it.
