How Stephanie McMahon Accidentally Discovered Ex-WWE Star’s Secret Storyline
An ex-WWE star recently discussed how Stephanie McMahon discovered his secret storyline.
Stevie Richards was a regular on Sunday Night Heat, a secondary WWE show in the early 2000s, which focused more on RAW’s mid-card talents.
Between 2002 and 2003, Richards began referring to himself as the General Manager of Heat, but had no actual authority.
Alongside his on-screen ally, Victoria, he would cut unscripted backstage promos and present them as comedic sections, calling it the ‘Stevie Night Heat’ angle.
Richards utilized his charisma and creativity to maximize his limited screen time.
On a recent episode of The Stevie Richards Show podcast, he recalled how Stephanie McMahon discovered the angle, which had gone unnoticed for around seven months, while discreetly recording a segment.
In comes Stephanie McMahon, who’s never going, unless they were looking for a pre-tape for RAW or whatever, she walks in and she did have a clipboard or a paper, so I know she was probably looking for a locker room space for a pretape for that night or week.
And I remember seeing her out of the corner of my eye. The take was still going on. I saw her out of the corner of my eye, and I go, “Oh, man, it’s over.” The pre-tape ends and I hear Stephanie say, ‘Johnny, when did Stevie become the GM of Heat?’ [1:16:33 onwards]
Stephanie McMahon later approached Stevie Richards, officially making him the GM of Heat.
Stephanie McMahon’s Complicated Relationship With Vince McMahon
Stephanie McMahon and Vince McMahon appeared in numerous storylines during their time together in WWE.
However, their relationship seems to have taken a hit ever since the latter was accused of sexual assault and trafficking by a former employee.
Vince Russo, former WWE creative writer, even accused her and her husband, Triple H, of playing a role in the former boss’ ouster from the company and the TKO board.
The couple also allegedly voted against Vince McMahon’s return to the company in 2022.
