Why Stephanie McMahon Apologized To Rey Mysterio’s Wife

Stephanie McMahon had Rey Mysterio’s wife on her mind during an interesting chat with Dominik Mysterio.

Dominik Mysterio became the Intercontinental Champion at WrestleMania 41, his first singles title on the WWE main roster. This may have shocked some people, as Dominik didn’t win many singles matches over the years, but he has improved a lot during his five-year WWE career.

A new podcast hosted by Stephanie McMahon called “What’s Your Story?” featured “Dirty” Dom as the guest. They talked about Dominik’s family, growing up in the business, and becoming a hated WWE superstar in the last three years.

The discussion covered the SummerSlam 2005 match when Eddie Guerrero faced Rey Mysterio in the “Custody of Dominik” Ladder Match. At the time, Dominik was an 8-year-old kid who appeared on SmackDown regularly and tried to help Rey win the match, which Rey did.

Sadly, Eddie Guerrero would go on to pass away in November 2005, and I didn’t get to see Dominik grow into the great wrestler he has become.

Stephanie McMahon Teases Dominik Mysterio About His Father

During his interview with Stephanie McMahon, Dominik Mysterio described how surreal it was to work with Eddie and his dad, Rey, in a match like that. Stephanie then mentioned the storyline that Dominik may be Eddie’s son.

Stephanie: “Him and your dad. I mean, you weren’t sure who your dad was.”

Dominik: “I still am (not sure).”

Stephanie: “You’re still confused.” (laughing)

Dominik: “If you look at me now, people question it a lot more.” (Both laughing) “I guess we question my mother at this point. Just saying.”

Stephanie: “Angie, I’m sorry.” (laughing)

Angie is the wife of Rey Mysterio, who is really Dominik Mysterio’s dad, even though the mustache-wearing Dominik does resemble Eddie Guerrero to some degree. Obviously, Stephanie and Dominik were having fun while reflecting on that memorable storyline from 20 years ago.

In the same interview, Dominik Mysterio told Stephanie McMahon that he plans to have kids with his wife, but they’ve only been married for a year, so it might be something down the road.
