Status Of Ex-WWE Champion Being Kept Top Secret

The future of a former WWE Champion remains unclear.

After a four-month hiatus, AJ Styles returned to WWE on October 4th, but his big comeback didn’t go to plan.

During a match with Carmelo Hayes, Styles landed awkwardly and the bout was brought to a premature end by the referee. While some believed the injury to be part of a storyline that was quickly proven to not be the case by the man himself.

Following SmackDown and amid incredible speculation, AJ Styles revealed he’d suffered a “Lisfranc injury.”

It’s called a Lisfranc injury. Look it up, it sucks! I thought when I took off my boot. I would have a bone sticking out of my foot.

Since then, Styles has disappeared from view and there has been very little public comment on his status.

AJ Styles’ WWE Situation “Very Strange”

As reported by Wrestle Votes via SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A, the silence on Styles is very deliberate, albeit a little strange.

“When he got hurt on that Friday night, I heard immediately, ‘Okay, it’s legit. He’s hurt.’ I haven’t heard a word about AJ Styles since. It’s very strange, to be honest, not a word. So whatever it is, they’re keeping it quiet all the way around.”

It was reported after the taping that AJ Styles was “pretty mad” about the situation. According to the report, the match was meant to be the start of a legitimate retirement tour, or at least the tease of a retirement angle. However, these plans had to be dropped.
