Possible Spoiler Result For Cody Rhodes-Drew McIntyre WWE Championship Match
Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre will face off in a huge WWE Title match on SmackDown.
The Undisputed WWE Championship will be on the line on the January 9th edition of SmackDown from Berlin, Germany, as Cody Rhodes defends the coveted championship against his biggest rival, Drew McIntyre. Since it’s in Germany, it will air at 2 p.m. ET on Netflix internationally and, in the US, on tape delay on USA Network at 8 p.m. ET.
While Rhodes has successfully defended the championship against McIntyre on multiple occasions in the past, this time is different because McIntyre chose the stipulations for the match.
Drew McIntyre announced that his WWE Title opportunity against Cody Rhodes will be a 3 Stages of Hell Match:
- Stage 1: Regular Match
- Stage 2: Falls Count Anywhere
- Stage 3: Steel Cage Match
A report from BodySlam+ Patreon notes that “there is a push internally from multiple personnel in WWE to have Drew McIntyre defeat Cody Rhodes tonight.”
Earlier in the week, there was a report claiming that WWE was considering a McIntyre victory over Rhodes.
Drew McIntyre Is Ready To Take WWE Title From Cody Rhodes
Heading into their WWE Championship match on SmackDown in Berlin, Drew McIntyre commented on social media about how his match with Cody Rhodes may be the biggest match of his career, and he knows he has to win.
“It’s now or never. You can’t have a new era unless there is change at the top or it’s just really the same thing. Everyone seems fine with that, Cody at the top, protect him all the time, protect their golden boy because he’s safe. I’m not safe, I’m dangerous. That’s the kind of era I want to bring. Unpredictably.
Cody did a hell of a job as champ, especially to finish this story, but it’s the same. We need change. Not just for the company but for the fans. We need change for you Cody. I’ve broken you mentally. I’ve broken you physically. I’m sending you to the dark whether you realize it or not.
You are the Batman, but I’m Bane. If you can climb out of that dark hole when I beat you, and take everything from you, you’re gonna return a better Cody Rhodes than ever before. It will enable someone like me, someone in the position I’m in right now. I feel unbeatable. If I am defeated Friday, then I don’t know who the hell I am.”
It has also been reported that the Cody Rhodes-Drew McIntyre WWE Title match will likely get around 30 minutes in the main event of SmackDown in Berlin.
