Solo Sikoa Reveals Scrapped Main Roster Debut Plans

Solo Sikoa

Despite having a successful run in NXT 2.0, it would now seem there was a strong chance Solo Sikoa could have very quickly joined the Friday Night SmackDown roster.

Having made his debut on the 2nd November 2021 edition of NXT 2.0, Solo Sikoa has featured in many high-profile bouts since including having multiple shots at the North American Championship.

However, Sakoa himself has now confirmed that this wasn’t the original idea from WWE’s creative team, who had wanted him to head straight to the blue brand and join his brothers, Jimmy and Jey Uso.

In an interview with BT Sport, Solo Sikoa spoke of how he was hesitant to join his brothers straight away and wanted to establish his own name, and this hesitance led to him joining the NXT 2.0 roster.

You know, at the end of the day man, it’s so easy to go back to, ‘I’m their brother, I’m their family.’ I don’t want to be referred to as their brother, their cousin, I want people to recognize me for me. Before I debuted on TV, WWE creative was like, ‘We’ll put you with your brothers’. Then the next meeting was like, ‘Let’s see what you can do on your own.’

I felt like, ‘This is my time now. This is the time for fans to recognize me as Solo instead of your Jimmy and Jey.’ Before man, I had black hair, we all really did look alike. Again, nine months later, people know, ‘Oh that’s Solo, that ain’t Jimmy and Jey.

Solo Sikoa went on to confirm that his initial opinion when the opportunity on the blue brand was offered to him was that it wouldn’t be the right fit.

I would say, ‘Okay, that would be cool.’ I think that was when they started saying, ‘We’re the ones.’ I was like, ‘I don’t know man.’ I would still feel like I was in their shadows, I need to step out and do me, man.

Although they may not all be on the same roster, The Usos have revealed the advice they gave their relative upon him joining WWE.
