Shocking WWE Return May Take Place During Title Match at SummerSlam

The stage is set for one of the most anticipated WWE SummerSlam main events: Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship in a street fight.

With both superstars determined to leave with the gold, a new layer of excitement has emerged. Hall of Famer Mark Henry believes that The Rock could make a surprise return during the match.

Mark Henry Is Hopeful That the Rock Will Not Disappoint WWE Fans

During a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry shared his bold prediction, stirring up speculation throughout the wrestling world. Henry stated that there is a high chance The Great One will be at SummerSlam next weekend to make up for his absence at WrestleMania 41.

He stated, “This is the one where you might get The Rock. You should have got it at WrestleMania and didn’t. It’s time to make up for the mistakes, pay for the sins of the fathers. John Cena kept mentioning ‘we.’ ‘We came up with. We did that.’ There’s only one we: him and The Rock. Cody even called him out”.

The WWE Hall of Famer also pointed out that Cody Rhodes’ recent promos have deliberately referenced The Brahma Bull, especially in the contract signing segment on SmackDown last week.

“Cody mentioned him in that opening promo [on SmackDown], so all of this stuff is pointing toward The Rock being involved in this ordeal. And we’ll see how that works out, but being that it’s a street fight, that gives even more credence to the fact that everything won’t be structured and it won’t be a DQ if The Rock did show his ugly face,” said Henry. The Rock’s presence has loomed over the Rhodes-Cena storyline since the beginning of the year. After taking part in John Cena’s heel turn earlier at Elimination Chamber 2025, only to skip out on WrestleMania 41, The Rock has remained out of sight but certainly not out of mind.

His name, image, and legacy have all been fixtures in the tense buildup to SummerSlam, and fans have seized on every hint and easter egg WWE has planted, including The American Nightmare sporting accessories associated with The Rock on recent broadcasts.

SummerSlam 2025 will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with the street fight expected to headline the blockbuster two-night event.
