Shocking WWE Return Costs John Cena Intercontinental Title At WWE Survivor Series 2025

WWE Survivor Series is officially underway in San Diego, California, as the first match of the night is now in the history books. AJ Lee won her first-ever WarGames match as she made Becky Lynch submit for the win.

The next match of the night saw John Cena defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against the hometown hero, Dominik Mysterio. The AAA Mega Champion challenged Cena for the title in front of his home crowd after Cena won it from him in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.

Cena wrestled his penultimate match in the company tonight and now has one last match remaining on his retirement tour, which would conclude at next month’s Saturday Night’s Main Event. The semi-finals of the Last Time is Now tournament were set on last night’s SmackDown, and one of these four men would be the last person Cena faces in WWE.

Liv Morgan returns to help Dominik Mysterio win the WWE Intercontinental Championship

The entire arena was filled with chants of ‘Thank you, Cena’ even before the match began. Dom was flanked by both Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez, his Judgment Day stablemates, during the match.

Both women got involved in the match whenever they got a chance as they helped Dom reclaim the IC Championship. He took advantage of their presence and took complete control of the match in the early stages.

It seemed like things took a turn for the worse for Dirty Dom after taking a powerbomb from Cena on the outside. He writhed in pain while clutching his shoulder. It turned out to be a ruse as while a medic examined him, Raquel and Perez hit Cena with their finishers.

Dom took advantage of the situation and hit Cena with the 619 and a frog splash, but the referee didn’t count the pin after being annoyed at Dom’s antics. Instead, he sent the women back to the locker room, and Cena then took control of the match for himself.

Both wrestlers then kicked out of each other’s finishers as the match continued. Cena inadvertently took out the referee with a shoulder tackle. Finn Balor and JD McDonagh made the best use of the time and issued a beatdown on Cena, before he hit an AA with both Balor and JD on his shoulders.

Just when it seemed that John Cena would win the match after hitting Dom with an AA, Liv Morgan made her long-awaited return to the ring. However, instead of helping Dom, she seemed to slap him and side with Cena, but this turned out to be another ruse from Dominik.

Liv would then hit Cena with a low blow, allowing Dominik Mysterio to hit a third 619 on John Cena. Liv then hit him with the IC title before Dom performed a frog splash to win back his Intercontinental Championship.
