Shocking Claim Made About “The Real Vince McMahon”

Vince McMahon

These days, Vince McMahon may not be on many people’s party guest list.

The former WWE boss has a serious sexual assault and trafficking lawsuit ongoing against him, which initially resulted in his resignation from the Stamford promotion.

Even back in the day, McMahon was known to be a shrewd businessman, as highlighted by Paul Heyman’s pipebomb on a 2001 taping of SmackDown.

As it is with many promoters and WWE staff, Vince McMahon is often recalled as being headstrong and dismissive of anything that is not World Wrestling Entertainment.

Many of them have even confessed to shaking in their boots just by his presence.

However, an ex-head creative writer has stepped up to share his thoughts about ‘the real Vince McMahon,’ having worked close to him for several years.

Vince Russo was on on former WWE star Maven’s podcast, where he played ‘Mean or Nice’. Right off the bat, the host asked Russo about his thoughts on his former boss.

I got to see a side of Vince not many people got to see. I mean, I was connected to the man’s hip for five years. We were very, very close, and when you can see that side, you’re really seeing a different human being than the persona you see on TV. And I have to say, man, through all the bad traits, through all the things he’s been accused of doing, I’ve gotta say, ‘nice.’ [0:28 onwards]

Vince McMahon Did Not Enjoy Professional Wrestling

The claim about Vince McMahon not enjoying professional wrestling is hard to believe, considering all the things he went through to buy the promotion from his father and every subsequent contribution he made toward its expansion.

However, according to American journalist Bill Apter, McMahon wasn’t fond of it.

Speaking on The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Apter said:

Nobody could promote it the way he did. He caught lightning in the bottle, and he knew what to do with it. But everybody I talked to, even the guys that worked backstage and all that, just said he wasn’t really fond of professional wrestling, but look what he did to it.
